Hi everyone,
We are off to a great start this year with our shows, playing cities we haven't been to
in a long time. The reactions from our fans in Texas, Utah and the Dakotas have been
fantastic. We have many more shows in the USA this year summer. Check our TOUR DATES for where and when. We are going to be sharing the stage with some exciting artists like
Edgar Winter and Pat Traverse.
May 22nd starts our Western Canada tour. It's always a good time in BC and Alberta.
Once again check TOUR DATES on the main page of this website for venues.
Hi to all our message board members. We are now over a 1000 regular members strong!
If you haven't joined up or participated in the board, your missing out on meeting some very nice people who all have one thing in common... APRIL WINE!
Rock On!

Hello everyone.
It's almost the end of January, which means we'll be starting to our 2009 shows. Lot's different this year.
We start rehearsals the first week of February on our 2009 show. The first show is in Burlington, Vermont at Higher Ground on February 21st.
Jerry Mercer has retired as of January 1st 2009. After 35 years as the legendary drummer for April Wine, Jerry has retired, just short of his 70th birthday! He plans to take a year off to travel before deciding what to do with his new life. We wish him well. The fans will miss you.
That being said, the empty drum seat has been filled by Blair Mackay of Hudson, Quebec.
Blair has many years of experience in Studio, touring and a Masters in Music Performance,
See Blair's Bio for more info. We look forward to a new era of percussion in April Wine with Blair.
As mentioned last year, we signed with ARM Entertainment in the USA. They are starting to
fill up our dates with shows in the US. Watch the TOUR DATE section for updates.
That's it for now...

It's difficult to be upbeat looking out the window at snow flurries being blown around by the wind. Just a few short weeks ago it was t-shirt weather and I was cycling in the early fall sunshine.
Such is the dramatic weather changes we have here in Western Quebec at this time of year.
We Canadians always pine for the warm days of summer in early November when the clocks having gone back to Standard time make the daylight hours seem so short. Today, sunset is at 4:36 pm!! Why do we still have Daylight Savings Time anymore anyway? Not all places in Canada or the USA observe it. What does it accomplish? When I was growing up, it was said it helped the farmers. With more and more of us living in an urban area and the stats say even more of us will in the coming years, why bother changing times at all.
Wouldn't it be nice to leave work and drive home while it is still light? We don't need it be light at 6:30 am and dark at 4:30 pm.
I'm not a dairy farmer or even pretend to be, but do cows know the difference?
It has been suggested that it being darker earlier at this time of year presents a potential safety hazard to pedestrians in urban areas.
I can agree with that. Children coming home from school. Adults leaving work frustrated to have to sit in ever longer rush hours.
We all are at our lowest daytime peak of energy at 3pm in the afternoon studies say. Why make it more groggy with the darkness being shoved onto us an hour earlier at the busiest time of the day by a sudden time shift.
That's my 2 cents ;-)
BG
That having been said........there is not much to tell. We've had only 2 shows in the last 7 weeks.
It's been a exciting year what with Breen being added to the band.
Jerry is pounding those drums better than ever. I still, after 30 years, get the hair on my neck standing up when he does that incredible drum solo. I know all of you agree!
Myles continues to sing as good as ever and me?......
I'm having the time of my life still playing in a Rock & Roll band!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but laptops do die every 3 years and the summer came along and I got into cycling. Now I have a new laptop (an HP) and and it's far from cycling weather, so here I am back with all the news that's fit to print...and then some!
Cheers

We arrived home after 2 flights Prince Rupert to Vancouver and then Vancouver to Montreal. We had a 178 mph tail wind at FL370 so we only took 4.20 hours to get from YVR to YUL. The pilot of our 763 greased the landing in YUL. The smoothest I've every had in a 767. Usually they sort of land with a controlled crash. Good to be home. It's a hot one today here. 26c or 79F! Shorts, BBQ and AC.
Night 2 in Prince Rupert was great. Sold out and good fans. We'll be back next year I'm sure. They have an incredible amount of Eagles there!
Thanks to Jason and KLM for looking after us in Prince George and Prince Rupert.
We're off now until June 2, so I might not be here much. I'm going to relax and go biking. Mountain and Road. Some Golf too.
When we get back in June we're going to be busy I hear. New dates will be posted, so watch out for them.
I'll pop in to say hi!
The Mount Forest Show looks to be a blast. All our friends.
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us out west. We'll see you again.
Rock on!

Hi and welcome to the road blog.
I'm going to attempt to add to this blog
every day we are on the road describing shows and where we are.
Today we're in Prince Rupert British Columbia. We arrived here by VIA Rail after a 12 hour trip from Prince George BC. 715 KM.. This was the way to travel to here. The staff and service on the train was great. Thanks Karine! It was amazing going through the Rockies by train. There was a dome car had great views and scenery photo ops. Sitting up there was amazing, so quiet and very smooth with huge windows all around.
I would recommend it to do once in your life. There were only 24 of us on the train. It was almost like a very long tour bus.
Prince Rupert is located on the Northwest coast of BC very close to Alaska. It is beautiful here if you like Ocean and Mountains in the same view. The population is about 14000. There is something about the BC coast that totally calms me. It's always had that effect.
We're playing 2 night here at a venue called The Underground. A new one to us as I've never been here. There is a restaurant called "Rain" I'm looking forward to as I hear it's very good.I'll let you know. The Oysters are amazing I'm told.
Cheers

Breen LeBoeuf has replaced Jim Clench on Bass and Vocals.
Jim has left the band to pursue other interests. This change has been coming for some time. It was a mutual agreement.
He will be missed as my friend of 30 years, but business is business.
We look forward to playing with Breen as another old friend and fine musician.
Breen is a well known Quebec musician having played many years as a member of the legendary Quebec group Offenbach and bassist to many well known Quebec artists.
The website is being updated tomorrow to reflect the change.
Breen's first show will be February 2nd at Higher Ground in Burlington Vermont.
